9/30/05 - I hope Shaelin will like her first Japanese food. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me. I saw pictures of your beautiful baby at Grandma/Grandpa Mc's house. She is absolutely adorable! Enjoy every moment with her as she will grow up so fast - too fast!

9/20/05 - Hi! I came across your website address (which I had you jot down for me the last childbirth class) and CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of your new baby girl! She is so cute :) Happy belated First Coast Guard Day! Did you catch the CG whale? It was wonderful to read the Baby Mc Blog and I've enjoyed all of the pictures too. Hope to see you three at the L&M Reunion on October 21st. God bless your new family.

9/4/05 - Congratulations on your beautiful little girl Shaelin. I've been enjoying your blog, but can't imagine how you can find the time to keep it updated with all of the fun you are having. I think it is great how much you are enjoying your parenting experience. Best wishes to your family.

9/2/05 - Your child is a cutie...it is a slow day on this side of the date line, so I watched all of your baby videos. You've set the gold standard for dorky Dad baby video web interfaces...all great shots! You married very well so you know she'll be beautiful. In honor of baby Shaelin, I've decided to send a case of super, super absorbent diapers to Louisiana, they've got a bigger leakage problem, hope that's okay...the fundraiser is being held here tonight. Thanks again and my prayers are with you both and brother Tim...best of luck to you.

8/16/05 - How wonderful that you have a beautiful daughter...now you will become a "sucker" like all of the other Dads. Get the shotgun ready!!!

She is absolutely beautiful and you both look so pleased with her and her progress. Love the chronicle of her daily progress - neat web page! Keep those pictures coming...Mr. Schall and I would love to see you all - keep in touch and give the wonderful, newest McMunn a kiss for me!

7/25/05 - I'm in the airport lounge about an hour before boarding for Tokyo. I'm glad we all were able to be together, if even for only a short time, to meet Shaelin. I hope its the first of frequent get-togethers. I know all will go well and Shaelin with thrive in her loving home. I'll be in touch.

7/24/05 - Belated congratulations on the second most wonderful experience of your lives, becoming a parent; obviously, being born is THE most wonderful and a prerequisite :) This is very cool, how you've used the Web to communicate with your very extended - in the Conklins' case, a bit overextended - families and friends.

I'd like to recommend to you and Beth a radio (my chief source of info since I do not subscribe to a newspaper nor have a TV) program I've listened to over the past 10 or so years as part of my National Public Radio Saturday morning wake-up/breakfast time: www.parentsjournal.com. It's on a bit early here in DC, 6am! and I don't tune in as much as I used to a few years ago. Perhaps it is programmed at a more decent hour in your area; though with an infant, as you've probably learned, any particular hour may be a wakeful one in which you might welcome some radio program to listen to while you keep Princess occupied :) The program is full of very practical tips from practitioners (pediatricians, teachers, child psychologists, and parents).

Keep us Conklins on your Baby Mc mailing list and we will occasionally reply with comments and tips and admiration for being the first in the small Conklin tribe to begin the next generation of "hope springs eternal" genes of Ferdinand-Agnes-Lewis [my paternal grandfather] and Ferdina-Marianne going back to the cultures of Ireland, Bohemia, Bavaria, and more than likely, places to the East. Wonderful stuff the way life oozes all around the world. May you be sensitive to your daughter's uniquenesses and special journey that you will shephard these critical first few years.

7/24/05 - Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. She is beautiful!!! I didn't even know you guys were pregnant. Hope all is going well. My favorite saying was "sleep when baby sleeps." I think I still practice that today. Again, congratulations - we are so happy for the both of you. Keep sending pictures.

7/23/05 - It hardly seems possible Shaelin is already one week old! I think she looks a lot like her Mom, am I right? I tried to call you guys but I did not get through at the hospital, I will wait a while until things settle down a bit and give you a call. I see Aunt Shauna made it safely - that's great. Take care and have a wonderful time with your new daughter!

7/21/05 - Warmest congratulations to you on the birth of Shaelin. She looks adoreable and Mommy and Daddy look very happy! Although she was a few days late to share a birthday with Patrick Stewart (CAPT Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation) and me, Shaelin came at a very special time of year and shares a birthday with baseball legend Shoeless Joe Jackson and football star Barry Sanders, dancer Ginger Rogers, actress Barbara Stanwyck, and comic Will Ferrell. I look forward to sharing some of my birthday cookies or cake with her next year! Hope to see her, and the two of you, someday soon.

7/19/05 - Just wanted to pass along my congrats to you and the Mrs.

Shaelin is beautiful...though I was holding out for a female derivative of "Carter" or "Austin"...guess I'll have to wait for the next child for that.

7/18/05 - Cindy and I join with you and your families (and Zoe the Dachshund), in rejoicing over the birth of Shaelin Elizabeth McMunn this past Saturday! We are PRAISING THE LORD for this wonderful news and know that you give all the GLORY TO GOD for this precious little gift from heaven.

We are delighted to read that your best man, Steve Ramassini, had all the 'right stuff' to win the Baby Mc Birth Pool - since you didn't say what the grand prize would be, may we suggest that he gets to be blessed as the first babysitter while you two dear folks go out on your first date, without little Shaelin Elizabeth, and try to remember what it felt like not to worry about a baby back home waiting for you to come back - HA! :P

7/16/05 - Just wanted to share a couple pictures of Baby Mc - a very healthy and beautiful girl born this morning [July 16th] at 1:25am. Mom and Dad are still debating what's the "perfect" name for her, but at least we've agreed on when she can start talking to boys - NEVER!

More details to come, and the birth pool winner, on the blog soon!
